The weather wasn't our best friend this afternoon, but the rain held off for the most part. The sky was actually sunny during the game. I'm not a big fan of the weird scoring format that they used, but the game gave us a few reasons to be hopeful.

Back at the hotel, the night was wrapped up with great food and more beer than I would care to admit.

Back home tomorrow.

Overtime victory for the Wings, bounce back win for the Tigers, hot coals on the grill, and cold beers in the cooler - all is right in Fenian Godfather Land.

I write to you this evening from the Corleone Family's Indiana estate, located at the Knight's Inn in Elkhart. A nice leisurely three hour drive has been followed by an evening of entertainment and indulgence. Good stuff.

Tomorrow, I get the opportunity to reinstate myself as a Notre Dame football fan... or to remain a free agent. Time will tell.

Yeah, I didn't get my $17.50 today. Bastards. Honestly though, I'm far too drunk to produce a set of new clues for the gumshoes. The next episode will have to wait.

I honestly have to say that Detroit should just close the zoo if that's the best they can do. There was some talk about shutting it down last year as a result of budget constraints. Half the exhibits had no animals, the concession stands were all closed, and the railroad was not in operation. Bullshit.

After that I stopped by my parents' house for a while. In addition to being a bunch of unapologetic drinkers, we're also some committed carnivores. Dad grilled up a pile of burgers, brats, and Italian sausages. Beauty. That should kick off the weekend in primo fashion.

Tomorrow afternoon, it's off to Indiana for a good weekend of fun. My meat from Omaha Steaks showed up today, rounding out the culinary arrangement for the weekend's festivities. The beer is loaded into the coolers, the car is full of gas, and the spring has the potential to wash the bad taste of last season from our mouths. Nice.

From the world of conclusions - I have concluded that my couch is most likely the most comfortable spot in the country. Yeah, I didn't do a whole lot today, as if that were any big secret.

I did manage to hit the grocery store and load up on supplies for this weekend's tailgate festivities. I think that counts. Apparently I'm set to take my niece and nephew to the zoo tomorrow. We'll have to see how that goes.

So the Tigers won another one in exciting fashion. Lots of timely hitting, some long balls, and just enough pitching. A sign of things to come? Let's hope so.

In comparison to most days at home, I guess this one was slightly more productive. I sent out my tax return with my check to the State of Michigan. I got my laundry and some other stuff out of my truck. I didn't actually wash anything but, you know... baby steps.

I sent in a reimbursement form for tolls from last week. Maybe my check won't be for zero dollars if they can get my reimbursement processed before Friday. I wonder how that works with my $15 health insurance premium if I don't earn any money. Dunno.

Some people around here wonder why Detroit is in the shape it is. Well, when you elect (and re-elect) a degenerate Mayor, you have to hope that the City Council can get things sorted out. Yeah, I doubt it. This is whom the fine citizens of Motown have chosen as their leaders...

Good stuff. Keep up the good work.

Yeah, that 'doing something productive' part didn't quite work out. Through the course of more pints than I could count, however, I did figure out that a meaningless victory for the Tigers meant more to me than a playoff loss for the Wings. I suppose that's something.

Tomorrow morning's headache is going to be a doozy...

Boston College was the better team last night. No denying that one. The Irish did get screwed royally on that replay call though.

Today consisted largely of sleeping and lounging around. I had dinner with my parents and then hung around to watch King Kong on TV. I've watched that movie a few times, but it's so damn long that I never saw the end before tonight. Eh, it was okay.

I guess I should do something productive tomorrow, but I won't hold my breath.
There have been Visits to this here blog dohickie.
