Food for thought...

There's a lot of talk about relevance and clinging to the past and other shit like that when it comes to Notre Dame football.  Much of that talk comes from my part of the country - Big 10/11/12 Territory.  So try this one on for size.

Notre Dame has basically sucked ass since I was in high school.  I'm 36 years old now.  You can do the math.  And yet... and yet... they've won two national titles in my lifetime.  The 10/11/12 teams of the B1G combined have won one and a half.  Some around here are delusional enough to think that Michigan would have beaten Nebraska, but we deal in reality on this blog.  Alas, the BCS is what it is, so UofM gets half a title.

So, give me a second to do the math... yeah, that's right.  One irrelevant team that can't come to grips with reality has won more national titles since 1976 than an entire conference.  And the most revered coach around these parts not only failed to ever win a single national title, while compiling a pitiful 5-12 record in bowl games, but he also fired Ernie Harwell when he worked for the Tigers.  Who's delusional, anyway?

Here's looking at you, Big Whatever...
